Body-Mind-Spirit - Inspiration for Writers, Dreamers, and Seekers of Health & Happiness
Here’s the last video of my three-part series, “Overcoming Writing Obstacles.” I hope you enjoy it!
Enrollment for my fall writing circles is now open! If we’ve spoken and you asked me to save you a seat, now’s the time to claim it. I have one opening each in the Monday and Wednesday circles and several in the Thursday circle. I expect these seats to sell out quickly—first-come, first-served. Enroll today!
If you’re curious about my writing circles and have read this info, I’d like to add that I encourage participants to release effort in my writing circles. I try to create a space where you don’t need to accomplish, manage, or control anything.
You show up, relax with a guided meditation, scribble, and share. The idea is to be open, to ease into things as they are, to experience a place inside that’s free. To liberate yourself from evaluating, judging, interpreting, or holding yourself to impossible standards. If you’re anything like me, you have enough of that in your daily life! Instead, we practice being present with whatever’s on our hearts and minds and holding that with reverence, celebration, and love.
Many writing circle participants only write when they attend the circle. Some are artists, and others are healers, homemakers, retired professionals, students, and more. They use writing to connect with themselves and their higher power, and they share from that place of authenticity and truth. This process fosters inspirational and nourishing connections and conversations!
Participants tell me the circles are safe, supportive, and healing, which is I appreciate because it can be hard to honor the call to write, hard to show up for ourselves in this way.
I recently shared that for years I believed that if I wrote what I wanted to write, my husband would leave me, my parents would disinherit me, or I’d end up homeless or institutionalized. I bought into the lie that if I leaned into my creativity, I’d go mad.
But I’ve discovered that the opposite is true. Writing has saved my life, and it restores my sanity every day!
The gnostic gospels say that if you bring forth what’s inside you, it’ll save you; if you do not bring forth what’s inside you it’ll destroy you. I’m not sure about the destroying part, though I suspect there’s truth in that. But I can say without hesitation that the saving part is actual. I’ve seen it countless times among my students, clients, and in my own creative life.
I’d be happy to chat if you have any questions or concerns.
I hope to see you in the circle!
