As a writing coach and developmental editor, I run a boutique business and work with a handful of people and projects I adore. My clients are successful, accomplished, high-achieving individuals who want to develop or deepen their writing practice, work on a book or a proposal, or are looking for heart-centered support while navigating the ups and downs of their writing lives.
How My Coaching Works
I provide support, accountability, information, and guidance on all aspects of the writing life, including, but not limited to, the generation of ideas, getting words on paper, manuscript consultation, outlining, writing, developmental editing, Google document co-writing, and publishing.
I’m different from other writing coaches in that I teach spiritual principles, such as self-acceptance and forgiveness, non-judgment, and the cultivation of courage. My work is a unique synthesis of writing, life, and creativity coaching.
I am committed to my clients’ growth as writers, but also as people, and support their growth on multiple levels. Sometimes writing brings up emotional material. While I am not a therapist, I have a Masters degree in Spiritual Psychology, and offer suggestions for clearing
obstacles that hold people back. If a client’s issues appear to be beyond my scope as their coach, I make referrals to therapists.
My primary focus is writing, but my coaching may also provide:
spirit Bella Mahaya Carter was my first writing coach in 2008. Bella provided a nest of encouragement, confidence, and freedom that allowed me to write what wanted to be written. With her gentle, loving support, the seed for my first book was sown.”
